Robert Weyant, professor and chair of the Department of Dental Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and professor of epidemiology in the Graduate School of Public Health. Dr. Weyant is a former Navy Dental Officer and VA dentist. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health, past president of the American Association for Public Health Dentistry, and current editor-in-chief of the Journal of Public Health Dentistry. Weyant’s research focuses on social epidemiology with an emphasis on oral health disparities and social determinants. Weyant also is involved in research in evidence-based dental practice as part of the ADA Center for Evidence Based Dentistry, with a focus on implementation science. He is presently co-PI on several NIH-funded studies of oral disease etiology and health disparities in Appalachia and project director for a HRSA funded residency in combined pediatric dentistry and dental public health. Weyant received his MPH and his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his doctorate in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. He has authored over 150 scientific papers.
