Dobrawa Napierala is associate professor at the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration at the University of Pittsburgh.
The focus of her research is on deciphering molecular interactions and cellular mechanisms regulating development and homeostasis of skeletal and dental tissues, and the mineralization process. In particular, she is interested in regulation of gene expression and cellular functions in response to various extracellular stimuli under physiological and pathological conditions. She is also actively engaged in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows and residents. She teaches skeletal physiology, dental histology, development and genetics as a part of courses for dental students, graduate students in the Oral Biology program, and residents. Dr. Napierala is also a director or a co-director of courses developing scientific writing, presentation and discussion skills. She is President of the IADR Mineralized Tissue Group and has won many awards and honors throughout her career.
